Tattoo Idea 1:
These will be on my shoulder blades, and rising in a curve between these tribal thingiebobs will be the words "UNETHICAL" in a gothic looking script. Much like the famous "West Side" rapper tattoo, my unethical tattoo will allow all observers to know just what kind of person I am-- with my shirt off, that is. (NMG has her own version of it which I should scan and submit).
Tattoo Idea 2:
Ah, yes. The classic golden koi/carp yakuza tattoo. I think it's so damn awesome, I could almost hurl. I would remove the lettering in the upper-right shoulder and keep the fish and waves. Then I would go swimming and running and buying groceries completely naked and dare anyone to fuck with me. God help me if any real yakuza are nearby though when I flash the fish. Maybe I'll combine the "unethical" tattoo with this one? "unethical the golden yakuza koi"? It sounds like a morbid saturday morning cartoon. Perfect.
Tattoo Idea 3:
Now I know for a fact, that if no one who reads this blog likes the previous ideas, you HAVE to love this one. This is a totem devoted to the "great ones" of video games. I couldn't argue with this individual's selection, since he is much older and wiser than myself. But personally, I would pick more recent great ones to reflect my generational videogame gap (Solid Snake, Ryu, Jill Valentine).
Let me know what you think. And before you mention it, yes i know tattoos are forever and they hurt. So much the better.

i had to sleep on this one. tattoos are interesting. i hate to say it because i have a good number of friends with tattoos but tattoos are really only ever one of two things: beautiful/cool, or ugly/stupid. and most go in the latter category. i guess there's that middle ground where a tattoo isn't ugly but still not that cool...there's a lot of factors to consider in judging a tattoo. but anyway...
for the yakuza choice, i agree with eric- the whole koi and water thing only looks truly badass on asians. i think it especially looks funny on muscular white dudes. still, i like the look and style of those type of tattoos. they can be done so well...truly art. they have so much depth even if they're just one color so i'm not wholly against the eastern style tattoo on a non-asian person. sometimes it's a hit! if you go with this style, you should definitely search for the artist you like best first.
the large lettering idea is interesting. i would go for a less fancy style than gothic- something more easily read like boldfaced arial. but combined with the whole tribal thing- please, doc, don't choose that. 99% of the time, tribal tattoos are ugly and reserved for fags and sluts. heh.
as you predicted, i like the third idea the best. i think it even goes with your personality a little more than the other ideas from what i've encountered. it's a little geeky but i like the geek tattoos. where would you put it?
here's a badass sort of tattoo that i think you might want to look at: i think it's a band tattoo.
this has gotten long. but try this guy's website. and look at bmezine.com...although there's a lot of really ugly tattoos on there. heh. well, good luck with your decision and don't worry, i'm sure whatever you get, we'll all still make fun of it. hehe. i think i might get one too...but i haven't found anything that i didn't decide was stupid after awhile.

That has to be the funniest thing i've read in a looooong time. I'll reply to them in the order they came:
1. no and no.
2. Irish people don't tan, they burn, and cancer is not my idea of a fun time. I'd prefer to see, and i can't stand contacts.
3. Yea, i know. But still, its just a tattoo. and when people tell me something's just for a certain group, it makes me want it even more --just to be contrary.

THAT TATTOO IS FUCKING AWESOME, JANE!!! But the guy's back is covered in acne, so that kinda ruins it.

I'm more joking than serious (by about 10%), but given my track record and incrediable amount of boredom in NM, i might just get drunk and stumble into the closest one downtown and walk out with a "Mom" tattoo. Nothing's gay about a "Mom" tattoo, rainny!
